SEATTLE, Wash. — With the start of the 2025 campaign right around the corner, head coach Lyndsey Patterson has announced the addition of former Seattle Reign and Utah Royals’ star, Tziarra King, to her coaching staff as an Assistant Coach & Professional Player Mentor.
“I’m really excited to be a part of continuing to grow the game in this area,” King shared. “West Seattle clearly has so much love and passion for this team already. I’m looking forward to having a fun summer with this group and the fans!”

King, originally from Sickerville, New Jersey, attended NC State University where she played for the Wolfpack women’s soccer team from 2016-2019. She finished her collegiate career with the third-highest goal scoring record in program history (48), as well as four All-ACC and multiple scholar All-America honors before becoming the first player from NC State to be drafted after being picked 8th overall in the 2020 NWSL College Draft by the Utah Royals.
After wrapping up her playing career, King is looking to stay embedded in the Seattle soccer community with this new role on staff with the Rhodies. Her knowledge of both the game, as well as what it takes to be a pro, is exactly what she looks to pass on to her new squad.
“I hope to bring all the good vibes and energy to the team this summer,” King added. “I think it’s the perfect setting for players to not only stay fit, compete, and grow, but also to really enjoy the game. Hopefully I can teach a thing or two along the way.”
In what will be a similar role to the one that former Seattle Sounders star Roman Torres played on the Junction FC staff last year, King will provide guidance to the women on the team as they continue to push themselves in their soccer careers.
Fans can see King on the sidelines for the Rhodies in just over two weeks, as they host Salmon Bay FC in the first game of their inaugural season in the USL W League, which is a matchup that King is very much looking forward to. “I can’t wait for the little in-house rivalry of Rhodies vs Salmon Bay. It will be really cool to see the turn out that these two teams will draw. My wife and I have the joy of being a part of two different, amazing organizations. As born competitors, there naturally will be some smack talk. All in good fun, of course, because growing the game is really what matters in our household.”
