SEATTLE, Wash. — After their record-breaking inaugural season home opener last weekend, which ended in a goalless draw against Salmon Bay FC in front of 1,661 fans in attendance, the West Seattle Rhodies are looking ahead with hopes of securing their first win in club history when they welcome Lane United FC to Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex on Sunday.
Last Sunday’s season opener gave head coach Lyndsey Patterson and her staff lots to think about, with work still to be done in order to get their squad firing on all cylinders. “We got to learn a lot of their strengths and get a sense of what they like to do on the pitch, and they’re still learning how to play with each other, so we’re feeling really positive heading into Sunday’s match.”
This weekend’s visitors currently sit at the bottom of the Northwest Division, after having suffered a 6-0 loss at the hands of FC Olympia on Matchday 1, but will look to bring their experience and competitiveness to Sunday’s contest.
For the Rhodies, goalkeeper Madi Munguia will look to maintain her perfect record in net on Sunday afternoon, after securing the club’s first ever clean sheet in last weekend’s 0-0 draw. Additionally, while unlucky to not add their names to the scoresheet last weekend, forwards Hailey Still and Kalea Eichenberger will look to be a constant threat to Lane United’s backline.
