SEATTLE, Wash. – Following the conclusion of an illustrious collegiate career, former West Seattle Rhodies FC defender Kolo Suliafu has signed a one-year deal with NWSL side, KC Current.
Suliafu, a four-year starter for the University of Washington, was most recently recognized as a USC Second Team All-American and 2025 Big Ten Defender of the Year, after leading the Huskies to the 2025 Big Ten Regular Season Championship and Big Ten Tournament title. The defender, who has also made appearances for the U.S. Youth National Team at the U17 and U20 levels, made 81 appearances for the Huskies , tallying one goal and five assists over her four season.

“Congratulations to Kolo on signing her professional contract. This is a well-deserved move, and I’m excited to watch her succeed in this new environment,” said Rhodies’ Head Coach Lyndsey Patterson. “KC is getting a great one!”
The Rhodies went undefeated at home in 2025, conceding just one goal across five games thanks to Suliafu’s leadership and defensive prowess. The Ontario, California native anchored the Rhodies’ backline during their inaugural season, with the defender starting and playing in seven matches while contributing to six clean sheets, alongside a pair of goals scored in wins against FC Olympia and Tacoma Galaxy.
“Kolo has been central to the Rhodies since day one – she was one of our first signings, a star of our first brand photo shoots, and a key player in building our club culture,” shared Dee Abasute, speaking on behalf of the Rhodies’ ownership group. “Kolo is an electrifying defender who emits confidence and power. She combines fierce tackling, intelligent reading of the game, and unwavering consistency. We can’t wait to see how this next chapter unfolds for her.”
